To excel in any endeavor, individuals need to have a strong set of values and a solid character that gives them perseverance to achieve his or her goals. The Tinsley Family Martial Arts Youth Programs are created to provide children ages 7-12 with an environment that allows them to experience and understand core values like focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation and respect.
As contact sports, our Martial Arts programs provides a very challenging yet safe and caring environment for a child to mature towards a real life champion. The outcome of continued childhood practice of martial arts goes far beyond the accomplishments on the mats. The discipline and excellence demanded by our instructors often carries over to the child’s behavior at home and at school.
Our programs are typically subdivided in three different groups to accommodate students of different ages and training goals:
Our youth Gracie Brazilian Jiu-jitsu class is for students age 7-12. Graduates from our Little Ninjas class may start as early as 6 years old if they have attended sufficient Little Ninjas classes and are developmentally ready. The Brazilian Jiu-jitsu program is designed to teach kids the best self-defense system in the World, Gracie Jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu has been made popular through national televised events like the UFC. Our students learn all of the required techniques to defend themselves by the usage of grappling and restraints and NOT kicking and punching. The idea is that they can subdue and attacker without having to cause any harm. Advanced kids have the option to practice/train/prepare for BJJ (sport) tournaments such NAGA, US Grappling, and IBJJF.
Olympic style Taekwondo (Kukkiwon) is both traditional martial art and sport. This class is for students ages 7-12. Graduates from our Little Ninjas class may start as early as 6 years old if they have attended sufficient Little Ninjas classes and are developmentally ready. The Taekwondo program provides students with the structure, discipline, and confidence boost that you would expect from a traditional martial arts programs. The students learn traditional forms, kicking & striking techniques, self-defense, and olympic sparring. All though competition is not required as part of the training, beginner - advanced students are eligible to attend our competition classes and participate in the Amatuer Athletic Union (AAU) events.
